Doing Teamwork The Right Way
Not everybody is meant to be a leader so don’t push people to lead when they’re not able or they just don’t want to.
There’s an African proverb going around social media and you’ve probably heard it already. “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” And that’s a very cliche way to encapsulate what teamwork is, and teamwork is one of the things that we struggle the most at work. It’s not very easy to work with people that’s different than you, but they’re also a lot of positive things and today we want to focus on how to improve that, how to make it better how to work better as a team welcome to success
the first thing you want to do is have clear goals and a clear vision. If your team doesn’t understand why they’re doing the things that they’re doing is not gonna be a good complement, so make sure everybody has a clear idea, you have it written somewhere “this is the reason why are we doing this, This is our goals and this is the vision. if everybody understand the importance of their own work everything is gonna work a lot better
Also get to know each other, talk to your team talk to the person that works next to you. Try to find what are their ambitions, why are they there. What are they working on and the stuff they are working right now. if you get to know them better you have better ways to influence them and motivate them
Define clear roles. When people understand the reasons why they’re being chosen to do certain jobs, that will work better they understand that they’re good at what they do and that’s the reason why they belong to the team so define clear roles and give ownership to the people to do what they please in order to get the stuff done in their area
This is probably not much in your hands but ask your HR team to help you improve the skills of the team. When you get to learn new things you move faster you go further but also try to get the team to teach each other what they’re doing when you learn new things you also create a relationship that is deeper among your team
and let the leaders lead. It’s very easy to identify the leaders inside the team, not everybody is meant to be a leader so don’t push people to lead when they’re not able or they just don’t want to let the people that naturally leads or the people that you identify the leaders inside your organization do their stuff. They don’t need to be a boss of anyone but they will lead the team to a better place inside every organization you can recognize leaders and use those people in order to move the team forward don’t try to push people who cannot lead into taking leadership roles and at the same time don’t let the leadership become bosses let them leave in a way that they feel natural they motivate people that influence people and they move the team forward
